Note: With the rise of program costs and fees, it is critical for students to be able to turn to several sources of aid. The first step for many funding opportunities, including finding what form of federal aid you qualify for, is completing and submitting the Free Application for Federal Student Aid to prospective schools. Virtually all colleges and universities uses the FAFSA to determine if undergraduates are eligible for need-based scholarships. The Office of Federal Student Aid gives out more than $150 billion a year in grants, loans and work-study to higher education students.
